Man Killed In Two-Car Great Neck Crash

Homicide Squad detectives of the Nassau County Police Department are investigating a fatal two-car crash that occurred at 3:08 p.m. Monday, July 22 in Great Neck.

While facing eastbound on the shoulder area of Grace Avenue near Weigt Court, a 58-year-old male driver, driving a 2013 Chevrolet Sonic, reportedly attempted to enter the travel portion of the road, believed to be making a U-turn and was struck by an eastbound 2019 Volkswagon Tiguan operated by a 29-year-old man, according to police.

As a result of the collision the 58-year-old suffered multiple trauma injuries, was transported to an area hospital and was later pronounced dead by a staff physician, Nassau County Police said.

The 29-year-old suffered non-life threatening injuries and was also transported to the hospital for treatment, according to police.

Both vehicles were removed from the scene for brake and safety checks.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending family notification, said police.

The accident is being investigated.
